Brief Description

From October 2022, the University of East Anglia and the British Library are offering fully-funded collaborative doctoral studentships in the origins and development of the cotton collection.

The awardee will be based at UEA for the majority of the studentship, as well as at the BL for a portion of it. This CDP provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do original study on Cotton’s exceptional collection’s beginnings and/or evolution in the seventeenth century.

All of the following will be provided by the university:

  • For PhD degrees, the award covers tuition costs up to the full-time home UKRI rate. The UK Indicative Fee Level for 2022/2023 is £4,596, according to the Research Councils UK. For international students, UEA has agreed to waive the fee difference.
  • All students, whether domestic and international, receive complete maintenance as part of the award. For 2022/2023, the UKRI National Minimum Doctoral Stipend is £16,062, plus a £550/year CDP maintenance payment and a £1000/year London-partner allowance.
