Brief Description

Every year, the Lamin Sanneh Research Grants are offered by the Overseas Ministries Study Center at Princeton Theological Seminary (OMSC@PTS). Submissions from those working in World Christianity, Intercultural Theology, or a related topic are also welcome.

We encourage multidisciplinary approaches that combine religious contemplation with empirical study. Literature in the social sciences (Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics, Geography, Politics, Psychology, or Sociology), the humanities (Art, Ancient and Modern Languages, History, Law, Literature, Philosophy, or Religious Studies), or theology (Biblical Studies, Christian History, Systematic or Dogmatic Theology, or Practical Theology) may be cited in proposals.

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Princeton Theological Seminary Lamin Sanneh Research Grants, USA 2023-25:

The costs of fieldwork, library research, writing and submitting material for presentation and publishing, as well as any accompanying travel, may be covered by grant money for ground-breaking research projects. A portion of the funding must be set aside during the course of the two-year grant period for travel expenses to one international academic conference where you will present the findings of your Sanneh Research funding.
