Brief Description

The David E. Bell Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and the Mortimer Spiegelman Postdoctoral Fellowship in Demographic Studies are both actively seeking positions at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. Candidates who are interested in either program are urged to apply; by doing so, they will be automatically considered for both fellowships.

Please go over all of the relevant fellowship pages before submitting. Both American and foreign academics are welcome to apply for the programs.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Bell Fellowships at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, USA 2023-24:

  • Note that all incoming scholars must complete their doctoral requirements, and provide proof to HCPDS, by August 18, 2023. The following forms of proof will be accepted:
  • Copy of Diploma (Preferred); or
  • Letter from Registrar’s Office noting that all doctoral requirements have been completed; or
  • Letter from chair of thesis committee noting that all doctoral requirements have been completed.

Application Procedure

The following procedure remains the only viable route to apply rightfully:

  • The HCPDS postdoctoral fellowship application consists of two parts: I) an online application form, which will ask the applicant to enter information and upload materials, and II) three letters of recommendation.
  • All candidates need only complete one application and will automatically be considered for both the David E. Bell Postdoctoral Fellowship and the Mortimer Spiegelman Postdoctoral Fellowship in Demographic Studies.
