Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the International Excellence Scholarship at University of Newcastle, Australia 2023-24:

As stated on your Letter of Offer, applicants must be beginning their studies in a qualifying program at the University of Newcastle in Australia or online in 2023 or later.
Candidates must be full-fee paying international students.
Unless a prior special dispensation has been approved by the institution, applicants must not be the recipient of another University scholarship.
In the case that eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained, applicants must satisfy all financial requirements of a full-fee paying foreign student, including the full tuition charge and additional costs to receive their student visa.

The scholarship program does not need a separate application. When candidates use Newcastle’s online application platform to apply for a degree program, they will immediately take this into account.
Supporting records: Applicants must produce certified copies of original papers with an immovable stamp, a signature, and the date of certification, or scanned colored originals in color. Applicants may be required to provide the following documents:
- College transcript
- certification of completion
- English proficiency proof
- biometric passport page
- A curriculum vitae (CV), résumé, and/or letters of work experience are advised for programs that need work experience.
- Course/subject descriptions if you want to request credit for prior learning.
Entry requirements: All documentation submitted for the admissions process must be validated by one of the following:
- a certified public notary
- Any Australian Education Center a Justice of the Peace with standing
- Any education representative that applicants have designated as their agent
- An official representing an Australian diplomatic mission
Language prerequisite: If English isn’t the applicant’s first language, they can be asked to submit the results of a recent, accepted English language test—like the TOEFL, PTE Academic, or IELTS—that they took before starting their studies, if possible.
