Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Belmont University Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship, USA 2023-24:

Residency and High School:
- Be a Tennessee resident as classified by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
- Graduate from an eligible high school in Tennessee.
College Enrollment:
- Enroll in one of the Tennessee public colleges, universities, or private colleges.
Academic Requirements for Freshmen:
- Achieve a minimum of 21 on the ACT, or a minimum of 1060 on the SAT (exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests), or an equivalent concordant score.
- Maintain an overall minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. This GPA calculation may include additional quality points for advanced placement, honors, or similar courses based on the Uniform Grading Policy of the State Board of Education.
Requirements for Home School Graduates:
- Achieve a minimum 21 on the ACT (exclusive of essay and optional subject area battery tests). Home school GPAs are not considered.
- Alternatively, qualify for HOPE by completing at least two dual enrollment classes at an eligible postsecondary institution while enrolled in the home school program. Achieve a minimum 3.0 college GPA in each of the two dual enrollment courses and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA in all dual enrollment courses attempted.
Requirements for GED® and HiSet Recipients:
- Achieve a minimum 21 on the ACT (exclusive of essay and optional subject area battery tests).
- Attain a qualifying score of 170 for GED® recipients or 15 for HiSet recipients.
Testing and Enrollment Timeline:
- ACT/SAT exams must be taken on a national test date or state test date and prior to the first day of college enrollment. The ACT Residual test and the ACT Superscore are not accepted.
- Enroll within 16 months following high school graduation at an eligible postsecondary institution, whether in-state or out-of-state and regionally accredited.
