Brief Description
The most prominent rewards available to graduate students at UBC are the Killam Doctoral Scholarships. Through the will of Izaak Walton Killam’s wife, Dorothy Johnston Killam, and contributions made during her lifetime, the Scholarship Programs were created in his honor. Their main objective is to support the Canada Council for the Arts and five Canadian institutions that offer advanced study and research.
The Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies awards the UBC Killam Doctoral Scholarships each year. The recipients of scholarships should: “Be likely to contribute to the development of learning or to achieve distinction in a vocation,” according to Mrs. Killam.
