Teenagers, Arianna Ortiz and Fia Jagodzinske Bags Boeing Scholarship from OL Reign Academy
Arianna Ortiz and Fia Jagodzinske, who play for the OL Reign Academy, were named this year’s winners of the Boeing Scholarship for young soccer players of color by OL Reign a few weeks ago.
Due to the long-standing relationship between OL Reign and Boeing, the Boeing Scholarship program was launched in 2020 and pays the entire participation price for two OL Reign Academy participants each season.
“This year, we are pleased to announce Fia and Arianna as beneficiaries of the 2022 Boeing Scholarship. Creating a training and playing environment that supports all players, regardless of their color, income, or socioeconomic background is one of our main focuses as an academy. Our collaboration with Boeing is one way we accomplish this, according to Amy Griffin, executive director of OL Reign Academy.”
The Boeing Scholarship program is an expansion of OL Reign’s connection with Boeing and was created as a response to the underrepresentation of girls like Arianna Ortiz in youth soccer. In the past, the two organizations have collaborated to encourage and guarantee inclusion and equity in Washington state.
