Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, the following criteria must be met:

  • Applicants should have a distinction in computer science or a related area at the MSc level (or equivalent). Other qualifications (including at the undergraduate level) may be accepted in exceptional situations, and all applications will be evaluated on their merits as relevant to the specific case. Women, disabled, and Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates, who are currently under-represented in the sector, are invited to apply, as are applications from persons with non-traditional backgrounds (e.g., those from industry or returning from a professional gap). All applicants must show enthusiasm for the program and ability for it.

Before applying, an applicant does not need to have completed their current course of study. If an applicant has not completed their present course of study, any offer may be conditional on the degree classification they receive in the future.

Applicants must have a strong command of the English language and be able to apply it in a classroom setting. As a result, students who have not been schooled in English will almost always be asked to present certificated proof of English language proficiency before beginning their studies. Applicants should have a TOEFL iBT score of 92 overall, with a minimum of 23 in writing and 20 in each of the other skills, or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each area. It’s possible that equivalent language qualifications exist.
