High-caliber researchers working under the direction of a VISTA Core or Associate Member on research related to the VISTA program will receive financial assistance from the award. The program is available to draw and develop future leaders in the field of vision research.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the VISTA Training Doctoral Scholarship at York University, UK 2023-24:

• Candidates must have applied for full-time admission to a PhD graduate program at York University, or they must be in the process of doing so.
• To be eligible for the grant, candidates must be enrolled in the program as brand-new PhD students.
• A VISTA Core or Associate Member who would serve as the applicant’s supervisor must endorse the application. It is necessary to choose a Core Member to co-supervise if the employee’s primary supervisor is an Associate Member.
• Add a required adviser to strengthen the proposed project’s multidisciplinary knowledge.
• Perform vision science research that is compatible with the VISTA initiative.

Application Procedure

The following procedure remains the only viable route to apply rightfully:

• By the application deadline, send your application to applyvista@yorku.ca together with any necessary documentation.
• Choose and confirm a co-supervisor who is a VISTA Core or Associate Member. It is necessary to choose a Core Member to co-supervise if the primary supervisor is an Associate Member. Candidates must be admitted or have applied to a full-time program in an approved department in order to be considered.
• Supporting records: You must email the necessary paperwork and filled-out forms:
  • two letters of endorsement
  • a request form
  • a one-page synopsis of the suggested study
  • Transcripts of voluntary self-identification surveys for Masters (electronic copies acceptable)
  • Academic resume
  • Form for Referee
  • To make sure the package is complete, use the application checklist.
• Students who currently hold or have held a VISTA Masters award are required to submit: 1. Proof of application for the current academic year; and 2. Proof of application for outside funding.
• All students must possess the necessary English language proficiency to enroll at York University in Canada.
