Black students (of African ancestry, such as Africans and persons of African heritage from the Caribbean, the Americas, and Europe) are eligible to apply for this postdoctoral job. The applicants must hold a Doctorate from an academic institution. The chosen candidates will get $70,000 annually to cover four (4) Black scholars’ postdoctoral salaries for up to two (2) years.

Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Black Academia Fellowships at the Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada 2023-24:
- applicants that describe themselves as Black (of African descent; for example, Africans and African heritage people from the Caribbean, Americas, and Europe).
- By the application deadline, the applicant must have earned a Doctorate or its equivalent, or have a PhD anticipated before the fellowship’s start date.
- By September 5, 2023, they can hold the fellowship for two years.
- By the commencement of the postdoctoral employment, successful applicants must be able to work in Canada. On the basis of the lengths of the visa and permission applications, the extraordinary start dates may be negotiated. Foreign applicants are welcome to apply; however, if selected, they will need a work visa and a Canadian Social Insurance Number in order to accept the postdoctoral position.
- They must include a letter of support from the intended supervisor and be connected to a current or proposed supervisor who holds a tenured or tenure-track academic position at TMU.
- It is not permitted to have this grant and a significant fellowship at the same time.
- Candidates are not permitted to have a faculty job or to be on leave from one.
- Before the fellowship may start, applicants must provide documentation of their degree completion.
Application Procedure
The following procedure remains the only viable route to apply rightfully:
- Applicants must be accepted into the university’s PhD degree program in order to be eligible for the grant. Following that, candidates must submit an application using the Fellowship form.
- Supporting records: All of the following documents must be submitted by applicants:
- a resume letter
- A CV, a proposal for a scholarly, research, and creative (SRC) activity, and a letter of recommendation from the potential supervisor
