This fellowship is given on behalf of the family of Professor Frank Wallace, a pioneer in the field of research on diesel engine turbocharging.

Professor Frank Wallace attended Monkton Combe School on the outskirts of Bath before leaving Germany in 1939 when he was 15 years old. He was born in Munich. He received a scholarship to attend Birmingham University, where he also pursued a masters degree.
