- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree and a subsequent honours degree, both of which must be ranked first-class or second-class (upper division) and contain a thesis or dissertation proving the capacity to do PhD-level research.
- Completion of a Masters by Research degree, which includes a dissertation, proving the competence to do PhD-level research.
Language Requirement: Students must get a minimum score in one of the following official English language proficiency examinations during the past two years to fulfill the high academic and English language proficiency (ELP) requirements.
Minimum score of 6.5 on the IELTS (International Language Testing System), with no band lower than 6.0;
TOEFL (American Test of English as a Foreign Language) necessary score of 580 plus a TWE (Test of Written English) score of 5.0; TOEFL computer-based rating scale of 237 plus a minimal writing score of 22;
