Brief Description
Saraswati Dalmia’s daughter, Yashodhara Dalmia, an art historian and independent curator living in New Delhi donated to establish this scholarship. She has published many books on art, including Amrita Sher-Gil – A Life (Penguin/Viking, 2006), a thorough study of the life of one of India’s first contemporary artists.
Her book The Progressives: The Making of Modern Indian Art (Oxford University Press, 2001) is widely regarded as the canonical account of a pivotal period in Indian art history.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, the following criteria must be met:
MPhil/PhD (new admissions starting September 2022), which comprises research in Indian art from 1500 to the present day. Priority will be given to those who perform research on modern and contemporary Indian art.
Those who are currently enrolled in the first year of a full-time (or part-time equivalent) MPhil/PhD program will be considered. However, new admissions, which will begin in September 2022, and those who have not previously received the scholarship will be given precedence.
We accept both full-time and part-time programs.
Candidate Selection Criteria
Applicants from the United States, the European Union, and other nations are encouraged to submit their applications.
Applicants should have an excellent academic record, with a 2.1 or higher in their undergraduate degree and a strong command of the English language.
