All of the following will be provided by the university:

  • In addition to a donation toward PhD registration costs (of €13,130 per year for four years for those who pass as international students) or a complete fee refund, qualified applicants will receive a stipend of €17,728 per year (tax-exempt) for four years (for those who hold EU student status).

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the PhD Positions in Applied Ethnomusicology, Ireland 2022-23:

  • possessing a Master’s degree in closed regions, folklore, indigenous studies, or ethnomusicology.
  • Having excellent communication skills in Chinese, English, and, ideally, Miao.
  • expertise conducting fieldwork or engaging with local communities in Yunnan, Southwest China, or with other groups of ethnic minorities in East or Southeast Asia.
  • showing a thorough understanding of SW China’s ethnic minority societies.
  • Knowledge of great communication abilities, both verbally and in writing.
  • providing proof that they possess the academic and other skills required to finish the job by the deadline.
