George Floyd’s 6-Year-Old Daughter, Gianna Floyd Bags Fully Funded Scholarship To Texas Southern University
Gianna Floyd, the 6-year-old daughter of George Floyd, has been given a full scholarship to attend Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston, Texas, in the United States.
George Floyd was killed when a police officer kneeled on his neck, preventing him from breathing, leaving Gianna Floyd and her mother Roxie Washington in despair. Global outcry over George Floyd’s death gave rise to the BlackLivesMatter campaign.
People from all across the world and the United States have expressed their sympathy to Gianna Floyd and her mother. In light of this, Texas Southern University (TSU) made the decision to grant Gianna a full scholarship if she chooses to enroll there.
This choice was made by the school board of Regents, who authorized a fund to offer Gianna Floyd, George Floyd’s adored daughter, a full scholarship to attend the university if she so chooses.
This scholarship is a means to respect George Floyd’s memory and ensure Gianna has a bright future.
“This Board is committed to education and knows that a college degree is one of many powerful steps towards a productive and successful life,” the board chairman, Albert H. Myres said in the statement.
